El Sombrero Mexican restaurant celebrates Cinco de Mayo holiday
El Sombrero restaurant at Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort has just launched its plans to mark Mexico’s Cinco de
Mayo holiday. Due to high demand of previous years, the restaurant will hold special celebrations on two nights:
Thursday, 4 th and Friday, 5 th of May.
Cinco de Mayo (or the fifth of May) commemorates the Mexican army's victory over French forces in 1862. This
special date sees colourful celebrations across Mexico and the United States including parades, music performances
and street festivals.
You can experience authentic Latin celebrations at El Sombrero, soak up the sizzling atmosphere and delight in great
Mexican flavours. Chef Froylan Lara from Mexico has prepared some special celebratory dishes for the menu.
You get to enjoy delicious starters such as Flauta de Barbacoa (corn tortilla stuffed with roasted lamb and marinated
with Mexican chilies), Patatas Arizona (crisp potato shells topped with chili beans, Monterey Jack cheese and sour
cream) and both chicken and vegetarian quesadillas.
As for main courses, you can taste sizzling fajitas, burritos, chimichangas and Chili con Carne as well as Pastel
Azteca (layered corn tortillas and roasted chicken baked together) and Pescado Zarandeado (grilled fish marinated
with chili and cumin).
With the restaurant’s ‘all you can eat’ offer served tableside, guests can enjoy unlimited Mexican dishes with free flow
of Margaritas and Sol beer for AED 197 per person. You can add unlimited wine for AED 19 extra to this package.
Playing lively salsa, mambo and merengue rhythms, El Sombrero’s popular Latin trio from Colombia will liven up the
festivities and take you to the dance floor until the small hours.
